We hope everyone is enjoying the last of the summer as we transition into Fall! Speaking of Fall, we wanted to send out this newsletter to share what our amazing and dedicated officers and members have been up to lately.
On September 11th:
Our members met up for a viewing of “You Are Here: A Come From Away Story” – a Canadian documentary featuring the town of Gander in Newfoundland helping 38 airliners and 6,500 stranded passengers during the tragic events of 9/11. Our members had great discussions about the documentary over dinner afterwards.
What’s upcoming!!
We have our 8th Annual Sky’s the Limit: Girl’s In Aviation Day coming up at Lewis University on October 5th, Saturday! We’re in our final stages of preparation and finalized our volunteer and attendee list! Thank you Barb Buckner and all those who have helped us up to now!!
Sky’s the Limit: Girl’s in Aviation Day is all about introducing the next generation of young women in our community to learn and explore the vast fields in aviation. We bring in professional pilots, mechanics, Air Traffic Controllers, dispatchers, operation specialists and many more to discuss the important role each career presents and share their unique stories of how they all got here.
We would to thank Lewis University for providing our venue and our corporate sponsors Signature Flight Support and Exelon for making our 8th Annual Sky’s the Limit: Girl’s in Aviation Day happen!
