2024 Scholarships
We are excited to announce this year’s scholarships! Chicago’s Leading Edge Chapter and Women in Aviation International current members that live in the Illinois to be considered for all scholarships. Three amazing opportunities are available:
Scholarship 1: 2025 WAI Conference Registrations Scholarship (9 scholarships available; est. value $1,000). Recipient of the award will receive Early Membership Registration and flight to the 2025 WAI Conference being held in Denver, Colorado March 27-29, 2025. Award does not include meals and accommodations.
Scholarship 2: Pilot Institute Online Flight Training Scholarship (3 scholarships available; est. value $300). Recipient of the award will receive One Online Flight Training Course (drone or airplane) of recipients choice from Pilot Institute.
*New!* Aviatrix Spotlight Sponsorship: Pilot Institute Professional YouTube Interview & Fully Sponsored Trip to Arizona (2 sponsorships available; est. value $1,000). We’re offering two women an all-expenses-paid trip to Arizona, courtesy of Pilot Institute, to be featured in a professional YouTube video sharing their unique journeys in aviation! Winners will enjoy exciting aviation activities, stay in a comfortable hotel, and get the opportunity to be interviewed in a professional studio to highlight their experiences and inspire others. Applicants who have a unique story, please be sure to include in your essay.
How to Apply: For your scholarship application, please fill out this application form by December 15, 2024 and include the following:

One one-page letter of recommendation

500-1000 word essay typed, double spaced and must include the following:
- Your aviation history and goals.
- What you have done to achieve your goals.
- Where you see yourself in 5 years.
- How this scholarship will help you achieve your goals.
- Explanation of your present financial need.
- Demonstrated involvement in aviation activities.
Entries must be received by Chicago’s Leading Edge by December 15, 2024 and participants will be notified by December 20, 2024. Winners will also be announced at the end of December.
